Winches
|
We are agents for the Hutton-Arco brand of chrome and aluminium yacht winches. Apart from the
bearing cages, there is no plastic in these products. Manganese bronze and stainless steel are a
yachtsman's best friend out on the ocean and give reliability over time.
With the demise of the Barlow, Barient and Maxwell sheet winch businesses, the Australian
Yacht Winch company have developed the capability to supply most of the basic spare parts for
these winches, and have helped many a mariner to winch his way home. There is no compromising
on materials here. With the firm's growth, the range and organisation has also expanded to include
a wider selection of mostly sailboat products, including the following (click on the images to see the Hutton-Arco site):
- WINDLASSES and anchor winches under the Orca brand

- The Hutton Sail FURLING & REEFING range for yachts from 30 feet to 110 feet.
These furlers can be powered either manually, electrically or hydraulically.

- The Hutton BOOM BRAKE is among the newer products, and is the safest
and easiest way to control the boom before and during an intentional or sometimes accidental
jibe, by controlling boom travel speed. There are no plastic parts. Polished stainless steel
body and hard black anodised rope drum make this a very strong and maintenance-free piece of sailing
equipment. There are three sizes to suit mainsail areas to 800ftsq (74msq).

- Firdell Passive RADAR REFLECTORS under licence from the UK
company. These radar reflectors are NATO approved and give a very high radar visibility. Yet another
boating product giving peace of mind on the world's increasingly busy oceans.

- Powered ROPE CLUTCHES are an innovative addition to the
Hutton range. The rope clutch is a powered cleat designed to handle the loads of either genoa cars or
mainsheet travellers on larger yachts. The unobtrusive low profile design belies the strength of this
device to hold and move the line both om and out without wind-back. We should mention that our
flexible works process, coupled with CAD and CNC lathes, enables us to undertake custom projects in
yacht fitting design.
Hutton exports the bulk of their production to all parts of the world where discerning yachtsmen are
impressed with the toughness of their sailing equipment and the skill used in manufacture. The
experience has been built right from the early days as management in the Barlow winch factory of the 60's, when
big and heavy was strong. The marine environment is unforgiving and they have always borne this in mind during
the production process.
Please visit Hutton Winches for the full range of products. We look forward to
helping you select from our range and invite you to contact us for catalogues and assistance with pricing in
Australian dollars.
